Once again, things have been busy around here! On the weekend of June 25, Will was baptized. He was perfect through the baptism, despite the very un-Presbyterian amount of water that was dumped (not sprinkled) on his head. However, during the prayer following the baptism, he let out a loud burp!

That same weekend, we took Christopher to an outdoor symphony orchestra concert. We had been waiting to take him to an outdoor concert, because we thought he would get restless after a couple of songs. Boy, were we wrong about that! He sat through the entire concert, listening intently and pretending to conduct and play various instruments. We were sitting by a speaker, and he still says, “there was a speaker! and music comes out!”

Christopher is enjoying summertime–he loves to be outside but gets upset anytime he sees a bug. He is also obsessed with trucks, especially big trucks and red trucks (because all red trucks are firetrucks in his mind). He constantly wants to “ride in that truck!” He also has a new habit of repeating phrases, with our name inserted in the middle: “There’s an airplane, Mama, there’s an airplane!” He also uses the word “just” all the time: “Christopher, would you like some cereal for breakfast?” “Um, just cheeto-chips”

Christopher’s song reperatoire is expanding–his favorite is singing part of “For Unto Us a Child is Born” from Handel’s Messiah. He can also sing most of “Twinkle, Twinkle” (which is a little more normal), Happy Birthday, part of his ABC’s, Jesus Loves Me, and a frog song from his music class. The tunes of most of the songs are not recognizable, but he is starting to get some of the notes and rhythms right.  Usually, when you ask him to sing anything other than the Messiah, he’ll say, “Um, just Messiah!”

Will is still grinning all the time, despite the two bottom teeth that are pushing their way into his mouth. He is also rolling over both ways and working on sitting up on his own. He recently discovered how to pucker up and make a spitting sound, so we hear that all day, followed by Christopher’s observation: “Will making funny sounds!”
