First, the breaking news:  Will took his first steps today!  He actually took a total of three steps–one this morning to get from the coffee table to the ottoman, and two more this afternoon when I let go of his hands and left him standing on his own.  He was so proud of himself!  Hooray!  I paged Daddy to tell him the news, but he was scrubbed in surgery, so a nurse called me back and I had her relay the message–I’ve never heard a woman so excited about the first steps of a child she doesn’t even know!  It was really sweet.

Last week, we moved out of our house and into the apartment we’ll live in for a little more than two months.  We couldn’t have done it without having Nana and Granddad here to help!  Last time they visited, Granddad put up some new light fixtures in our house, so this time, when Christopher heard they were coming, he asked, “Is Granddad going to fix the lights??”  While I was in the middle of bringing the toys over, Christopher wanted to make sure his favorite toys made the move, so I got him a small box to put some toys in.  He filled it, closed it, and brought it to me, saying, “Here, Mommy, this box is ready.  It just needs a little bit of tape on it.”  After the move was done, we brought him to the apartment to see that all our stuff was in it.  I had brought over the doormat from the house, so as soon as he walked in the front door, he looked down and exclaimed, “Our rug is here!”   Because how could we possibly survive without our $10 doormat from Bed, Bath and Beyond??

No matter how much we explain to Christopher what Daddy does at work, he doesn’t quite get it.  Yesterday we dropped something off to Daddy at work, and as we drove away, Christopher said, “Daddy has to stay at work.  He still needs to fix his elbow.”  He must think Daddy has some serious upper extremity issues that he has to stay at work so much!!  And poor Will was so sad to leave his “Dah-doo”, as he calls him these days.  He is definitely a Dah-doo’s boy!
